Beginning Kayaking introduces students to the exciting world of whitewater kayaking. In a classroom environment, students learn kayak safety, environmental etiquette, equipment essentials, fundamentals of river reading, and basic concepts for kayak trips. Through direct participation in a controlled environment (swimming pool and slow moving water) students learn basic kayaking skills, including strokes (sweep, draw, scull), bracing (low and back), wet exit, boat lean, basic trip and lab fee required.
