NURP 103 — Introduction to Practical Nursing

This course introduces students to the basic knowledge and skills required for success in practical nursing education and practice. Emphasis is placed on developing safe, competent, and compassionate caregiving techniques with additional focus on medical terminology, basic human anatomy and physiology, and professional communication. Students practice core nursing skills—such as vital signs, mobility, bedmaking, feeding, and hygiene—in the lab setting while learning to integrate these skills with foundational concepts of body structure and function, infection control, and patient safety.
