NURR 117 — Community Health Nursing *
This hybrid course introduces students to community- and population-focused nursing practice with an emphasis on health promotion, disease prevention, and the social determinants of health. Students apply public health principles through a major community-engaged learning project that addresses identified needs in partnership with a local organization or population group. The course combines online modules with in-person seminars and fieldwork, allowing students to assess community health resources, engage in advocacy, and promote health equity. A service-learning approach fosters critical thinking, professional growth, and civic responsibility.
