Focuses on the nursing care of individuals and families during the reproductive period, including preconception, pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum, and newborn care. Emphasizes early identification of risk factors, clinical decision-making, and health promotion across diverse populations. Students explore cultural competence, family-centered care, and the nurse’s role in advocating for safe, respectful, and equitable maternity outcomes. Clinical and simulation experiences provide opportunities to develop skills in assessment, patient education, and collaborative care during this critical life transition.

Prerequisites: ENGL 101, SOCY 101, NURR 117
