WELD 240 — Sanitary Welding

This course is designed to teach the basic techniques of fabrication and welding of sanitary sheet metal and tubing. It utilizes a lecture/lab format which includes classroom discussion and lab demonstrations. Students will explore AWS D18.1 and AWS D1.6 standards and codes as they pertain to the basics of sanitary welding in tube and sheet metal projects given by the instructor. Projects will be saved to be instituted into a capstone class. Topics covered will include GTAW theory, laser safety and set up, sanitary fittings and valves, equipment operation, P&ID’s, basic isometric and orthographic drawings along with bill of materials.
