EDUC 260 — Special Education Policies and Procedures (3 Credits, Varies)
The purpose of this course is to expand students' knowledge of a wide range of legal issues concerning the provision of special education services to students with disabilities. Examination of special education legislative history, including relevant case law, will provide the framework for understanding current special education policies and procedures according to the Idaho State Department of Education. Upon completion of this course, students will have an increased knowledge of the laws affecting special education in the U.S. and of how to develop legally correct and educationally useful Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
