SOC 220 — Sociology of Deviance (3 Credits, Spring)
This course offers a critical examination of deviance and social control in contemporary society using the sociological perspective. The course will focus on the social processes involved in the construction of deviance, along with its functions and impacts on individuals and society. The challenge for students is to decide where the problem lies, with those labeled deviant or with those doing the labeling. (This CWI course meets Idaho State Board of Education GEM competency requirements for GEM 6 - Social and Behavioral Ways of Knowing.
