SPAN 111 — Spanish for Healthcare (3 Credits, Fall/Spring)

This course focuses on learning Spanish with the goal of exchanging real-life information and ideas through the use of functional grammar and vocabulary. It will partially emphasize the vocabulary necessary to work within the healthcare field. The four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing will be targeted. An introduction to Hispanic culture will be presented including topics relevant to healthcare. This class is intended for beginners and students with fewer than two years of high school Spanish. (This CWI course meets Idaho State Board of Education GEM competency requirements for GEM 5 - Humanistic and Artistic Ways of Knowing.) . (3 lecture hours, 0 lab hours, 3 credits)
