SURG 290 — Surgical Procedures II (7 Credits, Spring)
This course serves as a continuation of Surgical Procedures I. It includes an exploration of the following surgical specialty areas: obstetric and gynecological surgery; genitourinary surgery; plastic surgery; ophthalmic surgery; ear, nose, throat, and oral maxillofacial surgery; neurosurgery; cardiothoracic surgery; and peripheral vascular surgery. Pathophysiology and advances in surgical procedures and techniques will be emphasized, as well as medical advances that challenge the student to employ moral and ethical reasoning to emerging issues in healthcare. PREREQ: SURG 100 , SURG 101 , SURG 102 , SURG 103 , SURG 110 , SURG 111 , and SURG 150 with a grade of C or higher. COREQ: SURG 116 and SURG 132 . (7 lecture hours, 0 lab hours, 7 credits)
