Description This course is a study of electromagnetic theory and physical aspects of cabling used in voice and data networks, both copper wire and fiber optic. Topics include regulatory aspects of wired networks, product selection, and skills needed to install a wired network. Prepares students to develop and present a response to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a simple cable project. Course includes lab activities that require fine hand/finger motor skills and visual ability to correctly identify red, blue, green and brown colors. COM 115 or ENG 107 is recommended.
