MATH102B — Precalculus Foundations
Description This course provides an intensive review of algebra and introduction to key pre-calculus concepts for students transitioning from MATH 126E. Topics include operations with real numbers, equations, exponents, factoring, rational and radical expressions, functions, graphing, and quadratic models. The course also integrates two credits of mathematical study skills to strengthen problem-solving strategies, organization, and learning persistence. This is a six-credit course. Four credits will be for the Math part, and two credits will be for the Study Skills part. Please note: While there is no Students will be manually moved into this course from MATH 126E sections based on their performance in the first four weeks. MATH 102B cannot be used to satisfy the GE Mathematics requirement for a degree. This course is not transferable but successful completion of the course with a grade of C or better will position a student to enroll in MATH 126 at CSN. This course is part of a pilot program that has been approved by the Board of Regents at the Nevada System of Higher Education and is only open to students who are recommended for the course.
