EDUC 159 — Issues in Exceptionalities

A survey of special needs issues including: legislation pertaining to exceptional children in early childhood settings; the Response to Intervention, IFSP and IEP processes; definitions and characteristics of exceptionalities: the role of the family in inclusive early childhood education; identifying specialized teaching strategies; facilitating the development of students with special needs; modifying the learning environment for exceptional children; and collaborating with the family and professional in social service agencies.

Prerequisites: ENGL 121
