ART 123 — Color Theory and Design
is a foundation art and design course in which students analyze and practice the effects of color relationships applicable to a range of visual art disciplines. Students will learn color systems and varying methods to categorize and understand color using a range of materials. Through the design process, students will problem solve, evaluate, and produce multiple solutions in an effort to develop perceptual skills. Exposure to contemporary and historical artists, demonstration, discussion and critique will supplement studio practices. Required artist materials will be covered at the start of the semester.
