EL 206 - Machines and Control EL 206 - Machines and Control This course will provide theoretical background in the following topics: magnetics; electromagnetics; B-H curves; Faraday’s Law; ideal transformer; practical transformer; losses; hysteresis; Eddy currents; equivalent circuit, Lenz’s Law; short circuit/open circuit testing; introduction to heat, torque, speed, and inertia; DC motor theory; shunt, series, compound motor characteristics; armature reaction; Lorentz’s Law; review of three-phase power; AC motor theory; induction, synchronous, three-phase, and single-phase motors; and stepper motors.
