MA 215 - Electronic Medical Records Management MA 215 - Electronic Medical Records Management Using a Microsoft Windows environment and MEDENT electronic medical records software, students will learn the capabilities of a medical practice management program. Databases of patients, procedures, diagnoses, referring physicians, claim centers, and service facilities will be created and maintained. Students will use the MEDENT v. 23 Cloud TLS Practice Management system to schedule appointments and procedures, create, route, and prioritize triage messages, reference emails, and to-do lists, and manage electronic medical records (EMR), including documents, results, reports, and correspondence. Students will use the EMR to create progress notes to document the chief complaints, vital signs, medications, allergies, vaccinations, immunizations, and personal, family, and social medical histories; enter and utilize health insurance and pharmacy information; prepare prescriptions and x-ray/lab orders; and e-bill using proper ICD-10-CM and CPT-4-PC codes, adding appropriate diagnostic codes to a problem list. Students will also learn to prepare day sheets for end-of-day reconciliation, use the patient portal, and identify the role of the medical assistant in telehealth. Course
