FEMA 213 — Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams
(formerly FEM 213) Introduces the basic concepts, functions, and characteristics of Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs), and their roles in all phases of emergency management. Explores CERT composition and interaction with the formal Incident Command System (ICS) structure before and during adverse events. Discusses fundamental concepts of voluntary personnel and resource management at the introductory level. Prepares students for further CERT training and official qualification via advanced coursework offered by their local jurisdiction.
