This course will explore primary theories related to the physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional developmental changes in adolescence?the transitional period between childhood and adulthood. Students will consider how adolescents? experiences in educational settings are shaped by the intersection of their distinct identities and other social structures. Students will also evaluate how learning and development in adolescents take place in interrelated ecological contexts (e.g. families, schools, peer groups, communities). This course requires 36 hours of fieldwork across the session.
