Beginning with an overview of our legal system and some instruction in basic legal research, the course examines constitutional amendments influencing the criminal justice system such as freedom of speech and the press, gun control, constitutional search and seizure, the exclusionary rule, due process of law and confessions, the right to counsel and a fair trial, bail, fines, and punishment.
