CHIN 101 - Elementary Chinese I CHIN 101 - Elementary Chinese I 3 credits (Hrs: 3 Lec.) This introductory course will focus the Mandarin Chinese sound system (Pinyin) and the rudiments of the traditional Chinese writing system, as they apply to a practical use of the language. Written applications will be introduced with pen, paper, and word processing exercises. Chinese culture will be introduced through language experiences as well as interactive and hands-on activities. These will include activities on Chinese history and philosophy, cooking and eating techniques, holidays, festivals, and folktales. Humanities Core Course generally 1st semester.
