This course explores the behavior of materials under dynamic loading, focusing on wave propagation and high-strain-rate phenomena. Topics include elastic and plastic wave theory, shock wave dynamics, and explosive-material interactions. Students will delve into detonation mechanisms, diagnostic tools, and dynamic deformation experiments. Advanced topics cover plastic deformation within plastic and shock waves, thermoplastic shear instabilities, and dynamic fracture. Emphasis is placed on both theoretical modeling and experimental techniques. This course equips students with a foundational and applied understanding of how materials respond under extreme conditions.
