EWLD488 — Metallurgy of Welds

EWLD 488 - Metallurgy of Welds EWLD 488 - Metallurgy of Welds 3 credits (Hrs: 3 Lec.) Course covers arc welding processes, including physics of the arc, heat flow, chemical reactions in the weld metal, weld pool mechanics, and residual stresses. Microstructures within the various zones in a weld (weld metal, partially melted zone, and heat-affected zone) are characterized for ferrous and non-ferrous alloys (carbon, alloy, and stainless steels and aluminum alloys). Weld defects are characterized and weldability tests are examined. Corequisite(s): EMAT 351
