GEOE595 — Production Geology Practicum

GEOE 595 - Production Geology Practicum GEOE 595 - Production Geology Practicum 1 credit This intensive 5-days practicum engages students in hands-on applications of production geology within active and simulated mining environments. Through field exercises, underground observations, and data analysis, participants will explore the integration of geologic interpretation with operational decision-making in modern mining operations. Emphasis is placed on underground mapping, ore control and blasting, hydrogeological assessment, and mine water management. Students will apply both traditional field techniques and digital modeling tools to evaluate ore bodies, support mine design, and address hydrogeologic challenges related to dewatering and environmental stewardship. The practicum bridges classroom theory and real-world practice, preparing students for professional roles in mine geology and production support.
