The historically excluded group varies, but is always related to at least one of the following: groups historically marginalized on the basis of culture, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class or disability; and/or a culture or society traditionally underrepresented in the curriculum, e.g., cultures of Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, Native America, Latin America and the Middle East.
