ENGL 81 - Writing Skills ENGL 81 - Writing Skills 5 Credits Designed for students who need work on language and rhetorical skills in order to prepare for ENGL 091/099. Focuses on writing multiparagraph responses and on constructing a variety of sentences with phrases and clauses in effective coordination and subordination. Also focuses on editing for problems related to diction (casual/formal), verb choice related to active/passive tense, agreement and precision and word choice issues, specifically related to precision, spelling and usage. ENGL 081 is eparately for native and nonnative speakers. The section for nonnative speakers will emphasize verb form and verb tense construction, word order, word choice, vocabulary, articles, plural s and prepositions. Students with nonnative grammar error patterns should take this course in order to prepare for ENGL 091/099. Course Note Previously WRIT 060/081.
