History of Romantic Comedies: In this section we will cover the evolution of romantic comedies especially as Hollywood tries to broaden its definition of “romantic couplings” Sub-genres of Romantic Comedies: While understanding the broad generic definitions of the rom com we will also examine various sub-genres International romantic comedies: Although the class will focus on American rom-coms, we will also look at films from outside the United States to give us a clearer perspective on the American construction of romantic love Student Learning
