EDU271 — Introduction to Teaching Reading and Writing
Add to HCC Favorites This course addresses reading and writing acquisition for children. Students will build an awareness of the major components of reading such as: phonological awareness, phonics, decoding, comprehension, vocabulary, writing, children’s background knowledge, fluency, comprehension strategies and motivation, and how they are integrated in fluent reading and writing. Students will examine the assessment cycle for reading and writing acquisition, and explore approaches to support English language learners.
