LIN 100 — Introduction to Linguistics
This course will offer an introduction to the field of linguistics, providing students with the basic terms, discourse and concepts related to the scientific study of language. Topics will include the nature of human language; the brain and language; the social and chronological history of language. Students will learn phonology, syntax, lexicon, and non-verbal communication, and apply the principles of linguistics to their chosen fields, and to their own emerging linguistic competency and bilingualism.
