This course is a focused examination of art of the modern era. It examines the origins, concepts, and theories of modern art, architecture, and sculpture in the Western world, from the 1870s through the 1940s. This course covers impressionism, post-impressionism, art nouveau, dada, surrealism, international style, cubism, and abstract expressionism. Previous study of art history is ful but not required.
