CVIT268 — Cardiovascular Interventional Technology Clinic II

This is an intermediate skills level clinical experience and provides clinical rotation hours at anaffiliate facility. Under the guidance of a clinical preceptor, students apply information and skillsgained through the CVIT I and didactic portion of previous course content. Within the primaryscrub and circulation roles, the student assists physicians with diagnostic and interventionalcardiac and peripheral procedures including: patient preparation, bubble-less manifoldpreparation, sterile tray setup, patient and sterile-field setup, and imaging equipmentmanipulation (with awareness of radiation safety procedures). Theywill demonstrate appropriate critical-thinking skills during standard patient care procedures.Under the guidance of the clinical preceptor, the student also demonstrates the ability toconvert from assisting physicians with diagnostic procedures to assisting with interventionalprocedures with minimal additional assistance.
