Introduction to materials, energy and bonding of atoms, structure of solids, relations between structure and properties, comparison of properties, processing and applications of different materials. Laboratory to include mechanical properties, metallurgy, heat treatment of steels. NOTE: A graphing calculator may be required and will be discussed in class.
