MECT225 — Strength of Materials

4 credits · 4 hours

Strength of Materials deals with the relationship between forces applied to bodies and the resulting stresses and deformations. It involves the determination of proper sizes to satisfy strength and deformation requirements. The lecture is supplemented by problem solving sessions. In the laboratory, students perform ASTM testing and reporting on a chosen material, after which they design and construct a product to perform to given requirements using that material. Included in the course are data acquisition, analysis, and presentation methods using the latest software packages. Contact the Civil, Construction, Industrial and Mechanical Technologies department to confirm current software. Lab fee will be required Terms pring Distance Learning: No Lecture: 3 Lab: 3
