Through classroom lecture and clinical rotations, this course provides students with knowledge and learning experiences in the practice of radiologic technology, enabling them to develop the proficiency needed to complete the clinical competencies required for licensure. Students will transfer to their second clinical site at an area hospital, where they will be exposed to new equipment, protocols, and techniques. During the course of the year, they will attend limited rotations at orthopedic and pediatric centers. Coursework will focus on image analysis; age group characteristics and age appropriate imaging techniques and care; and pathology pertinent to radiographers, the disease process, including changes which occur in the body and their application to radiography. The foundation built in this course will aid students in decisions regarding patient care and radiography. If a student’s clinical performance is unsatisfactory or, if at any time the student’s clinical performance compromises the safety of the patient, the student will be terminated from the program.
