CMN 1616 — Initial Mine Rescue

3 credits · 3 hours

The U.S. Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) requires that all underground mines have fully-trained and equipped professional mine rescue teams available in the event of a mine emergency. Mine rescue efforts are highly organized operations carried out by groups of trained and skilled individuals who work together as a team. This course is designed to meet or exceed the requirements of Title 30, CFR, Part 49 and MSHA 3026 (formerly IG5), which pertains to the initial training of rescue teams. Scenarios appropriate for initial mine rescue training will be used in the simulated mine and burn tunnel (when appropriate). This course may be team taught with industry, state and federal trainers. Content may vary based on individual mine plans and state and federal requirements. This course may be repeated 3 times and may be offered as variable credit.
