ECD 1602 — Child Facilities Training
An introduction to the variety of childcare facilities including duties and responsibilities of the childcare worker to recognize and report suspected child abuse or neglect, how to make a child abuse or neglect report, rules governing the operation of the facility, and the legal protection afforded to persons who report violations of licensing standards. Subsequent repeated training may include, but is not limited to, child development, symptoms of common childhood illnesses, hygiene, guidance and discipline, and communication with parents. Course credit is variable. May be team taught with industry. Topics included are facilities, state agencies and regulations, public relations, and child management. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills in managing a safe environment while providing stimulating activities at appropriate levels. Students explore Gateway Benchmarks. Lecture.
