GIS 150 — Introduction to Geographic Information Systems
This is a non-programming course designed to familiarize the student with geographic information systems. Students will learn to use a GIS for storing, displaying, and analyzing spatially located information. Course topics will include GIS design, data formats, and data representation, and the use of global positioning systems (GPS) for spatially locating data. This course emphasizes the application of GIS as an analytical tool in natural resource management, population characteristics, and marketing. Basic computer experience is required (e.g. operating system usage, word processor usage).
