HIS 222 — Introduction to African American History

This course introduces students to the people of African descent and their experience in America. Beginning with a study of West Africa, the course then follows the experiences of Africans and African Americans through the colonial era up until the present. The social, political, economic, and intellectual dynamics that have shaped the African American community and its relationship to wider America will also be addressed.
