HUS 203 — Substance Abuse Counseling
This course discusses the nature of ATODG addiction and introduces students to substance abuse counseling. The course exposes students to the functions and the dynamics that occur within a substance abuse counseling setting. The course addresses the theories of substance abuse counseling, as well as the process of screening, assessment, treatment planning, and counseling techniques, with individuals and families. This course discusses cultural competency and the skills needed to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across diverse cultures.
