This course centers on the sociological analysis of family and relationship dynamics and demographics within U.S. society, including a cross-cultural comparison. Topics will include families in historical perspective, theories and methods for studying families, mate selection, gender, sexuality, love and intimacy, marriage, divorce, remarriage, parenting, the political economy of family, abuse and violence, family diversity, and social change.
