ZOO 226 — Zoo Clinical 4

This course will provide students with novel zoo workplace experience and further practice of principles covered in other animal management courses. Students will adhere to AZA and USDA standards, practice oral and written communication skills and participate in a JCC zoo technology management supported function outside of regularly scheduled class time. Field trips and workshops will broaden the student’s experience and provide opportunity to compare the facilities and practices of different zoos. There will be an overnight field trip to a distant metropolitan zoo. Students will be required to spend 4 weeks of clinical on external rotation (outside of primary clinical site) at a veterinary clinic. Additional external rotations may be available for students to gain experience at facilities other than the main clinical site.

Prerequisites: ZOO 215, ZOO 216, ZOO 220, BIO 217, BIO 218
