Music Degree
The Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) in Music is designed to prepare students for transfer to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program at a senior college or university. Students will receive a solid foundation in music theory, music history, and applied music performance skills. Note: Completion of the Associate in Fine Arts degree does not fulfill the requirements of the Illinois General Education Core Curriculum. Students who complete the AFA must complete their general education requirements after they transfer to a four-year college or university. Baccalaureate degree programs in the fine arts are highly structured, and music majors must complete a sequential list of courses in the major field during their freshman and sophomore years.
