This course examines child development from conception through adolescence, focusing on genetic and environmental influences, key developmental theories, and sensitive periods. Students will explore the interconnected development across physical, cognitive, social, and emotional domains, as well as the effects of child maltreatment and social issues on learning. Students will consider effective teaching practices, the role of teacher-student interactions, and the educational context of home, school, and community where the child develops.
