ETC125 — Semiconductor Devices

3 credits · 3 hours

This lecture/laboratory course is designed to introduce students to a variety of semiconductor devices, circuits, and applications. Topics include semiconductor theory, diode types, rectifier circuits, power supply design, optical diodes, Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJT) characteristics, transistor circuit biasing and configurations, transistor switching and amplification circuits, Field Junction Transistors (FETs), MOSFETs, SCRs, and Triacs. The laboratory component of this course is designed to reinforce theory through a series of hands-on lab projects. Students will build, configure, calculate, test, and measure a series of semiconductor circuits. Printed circuit boards designed specifically for this course will be used throughout the semester .
