HIS214 — America and the Vietnam War (H)
This course will cover the Vietnam War in depth, starting with the history of French Colonialism in Indochina during the 19th century, through World Wars I and II. Special note will be taken of the struggle for Vietnamese independence which began in the early twentieth century. The course will cover how and why the United States became involved, how the war was fought, and what its long-term importance has been for the Cold War, U.S. foreign policy, and the men, women and civilians from both countries who were involved in the war.
