CIS 100 — Digital Society

A consideration of how digital technologies impact individuals' daily lives, social movements & civic activities. How the design and use of algorithms can be influenced by the culture and biases of those designing & using the technologies. Impacts on human rights; privacy; ethical concerns; and security. This course will help students achieve excellence in their studies and future endeavors by providing foundational knowledge that is critically important to understand digital influences on modern society. Facilitation and strengthening of critical-thinking skills, listening & analytical skills, and the application of the scientific method to exploring social phenomena.
