EDC 2500 — Psych Foundations of Education
This course provides an overview of human development from conception to adolescence and its application to teaching and learning. It focuses on historical and contemporary theories of childhood development. Learning is considered in relation to biological factors, child and family factors, program factors and sociocultural factors, particularly in diverse urban settings. Children's physical, cognitive, communicative, social and emotional development is explored as contributors to and as consequences of learning experiences. New York State mandated two-hour session on recognizing and reporting child abuse is included.
