ELA 250 — Arab Lit Trans
This course is a survey of modern Arabic literature in translation. It examines an array of literary writings from the late 19th century to the present and explores social, religious, and historical contexts in which these literary works were created. Readings include fiction, short stories, memoirs and polemical pieces as well as novels by Middle Eastern and North African writers. Particular attention is given to writings investigating contact between the Arab world and the West.CUNY Pathways: Flexible Core-Individual & Society
