This writing-intensive course allows students with or without bilingual skills to becomeacquainted with principles of world language families and of language use in an urbancontext. The central theme of the class is language diversity among immigrants whocontribute to the linguistic and cultural identity of New York City. The class discusseslinguistic vitality, ethnic enclaves, cultural experiences, and sociopolitical engagementamong bilingual communities in NYC.
