ENG 265 — The Drama
Various approaches to dramatic structure, theme, and characterization will be explored through plays, theory, and criticism by culturally diverse writers. Examples of the genre from major periods of development from antiquity through the twenty-first century will be studied. Students will analyze scripts by representative playwrights such as Sophocles, Shakespeare, Molière, Chekhov, Ibsen, O’Neill, Brecht, Hellman,Hansberry, Williams, Beckett, Fornés, Wilson, Hwang, Kushner, and Nottage.CUNY Pathways: Flexible Core-Creative Expression
