ENG 266 — Shakespeare
This survey course examines a selection of Shakespeare's writings. It also looks at renaissance social, intellectual, and cultural contexts in order to help students understand Shakespeare's world. The course concentrates on various sonnets or poems and a representative selection of plays from the history plays, comedies, "problem plays," tragedies, and romances. Whenever possible, through visits to the theatres or film viewing, students are introduced to the "living Shakespeare".CUNY Pathways: Flexible Core-World Cultures & Global Issues
