ENG 270 — Introduction to Poetry

This course introduces students to basic elements, formal conventions, and social contexts of poetry from different countries and historical periods. Varying critical perspectives will be employed. Students will analyze works by such poets as Tu Fu, William Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, W.B. Yeats, Langston Hughes, Pablo Neruda, Louise Bennett, Rosario Castellanos, Wislawa Szymborska, A.K.
